Flannel John’s Yooper Cookbook: Recipes from Ironwood to St. Ignace, De Tour Village to Copper Harbor (Cookbooks for Guys) (Volume 27)

$9.95

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is affectionately know as “Da U.P.” and the residents are called “Yoopers.” It is a culture unto itself as is the food. Influenced by Finnish immigrants, loggers, miners, hunters and fishermen, Yooper food reflects all of these gastronomic threads. Flannel John’s Yooper Cookbook dips a knife, fork and spoon into all of these influences.

Description

Flannel John was born in Northern Wisconsin and raised in Michigan’s Upper peninsula. He has hunted and fished in 40 states, Canada and Mexico. Along with old friend and author Tim Murphy, the’ve collected thousands of recipes. Both hold a deep love for “Da U.P.” This book features dishes from small towns, potlucks, community halls and church basement kitchens. The food was inspired by loggers, miners, hunters, fishermen, camplers and Finns. From the Quincy Mine to the Mackinac Straits, from the ski jump in Iron Mountain to the Soo Locks there is no place on earth like the U.P.
