Flannel John’s Car Guy Cookbook: Food for the Gastronomic Gearhead (Cookbooks for Guys) (Volume 14)

Author Tim Murphy looked under the hood of the first “Flannel John’s Cookbooks for Guys” and decided to tune it up. He’s added more recipes to the 2nd edition. This book was inspired by his grandfather, John Murphy Sr.,who opened a Standard Oil Gas Station in the 1920s. The station was on the Chicago’s west side at the start of Route 66. He dedicates this book to mechanics, collectors, restorers, gas jockeys, hobbyists, race fans and car guys everywhere.

My grandfather opened a Standard Oil gas station in the 1920s on the west side of Chicago. It was on Ogden Avenue near the start of Route 66. I may not have gasoline coursing through my veins, but it is in my DNA. The station was sold in the 1960s and has gone through several changes over the decades as the picture proves. So this is a book for car guys…for the gas jockeys, mechanics, racing fans, drivers, restorers, collectors and hobbyists who embrace the car culture. It’s time to make a kitchen pit stop and fuel up.

This is the second edition of Flannel John’s Car Guy Cookbook. It features new recipes and the classic favorites.
